The first of two anthologies of the best fairy tales for nine year olds, compiled by Lisa M. Ripperton. Of the 36 fairy tales included in this anthology, 4 come from Andersen, 3 from Grimm, 5 from Pyle, 3 from MacManus, 2 from Wilde, 3 from Granny's Wonderful Chair, and 5 from The King of the Golden River. The remaining 11 tales in this collection were selected from a wide variety of sources for their appeal to children of this age.
